There comes a time in life when you find that all the people around you live better lives, have minor problems, have better families; in a nutshell, they are more successful than you.
If they are your age mates, then you might feel like you are a failure. While it’s true that life happens at the pace of life, it is also true that if you struggle for something awful, then you will get it.
Instead of sitting there feeling pity for yourself, you need to stand up and push for what you want in life. It may not take a day or a month, but you will get it someday.
From Socrates and the young man’s story, we learn that the secret to success is craving for it as bad as you want the air you will breathe the next minute.
Motivation: A Bridge to Success
Motivation can be termed as a goal-oriented desire to achieve a critical objective. If you are like most people I know, you attend a sermon, a motivation conference or any other place where they offer motivation.
Coming out, you are so motivated nothing seems impossible to achieve. Days later, you are back to your old self. The feelings of discouragement are back; you no longer feel the psyche achieve your goals.
Your dreams no longer motivate you to wake up early. But why is this so? Why do some people seem to have their lives already figured out while yours is all confused?
Are they working harder, smarter or what exactly is their secret? Well to start with, for dreams and goals to be achieved, then you need motivation.
Motivation makes you stay at the peak of every task you are performing. If you want to be successful someday, you need to know the following:
1. What you Think Is Who You Are
The things that your mind possesses highly influence the person you become in the long run. If you are always having negative thoughts about life, then you become a pessimist, always skeptical towards everything.
There is no greater hindrance to success than this. Always cultivate positive thoughts in your mind. Beware of the negative environment; if you can’t avoid it, take measures to ensure it doesn’t influence you.
2. Never Stop Learning
Ensure that you learn something new every day. The information you get in school, or through your interaction with people, is a treasure in itself; the more you have, the better you are.
Take time from your busy schedule and read a good book, a journal, a magazine; just know something.
3. Persistence and Hard Work
Let no one fool you, nothing will ever be handed to you. Most of the successful persons you see today started at the bottom and worked their way up.
Take Oprah Winfrey for example. The child abuses she underwent as a child was heart wrecking. Experiencing sexual assault at a tender age can damage anybody for life, but not her.
She believed she was destined for greatness and worked hard towards that. Such a mindset will take you a long way. Today, she is one of the wealthiest women in the universe with her show named The Oprah Winfrey Show.
If you are looking for an easier way out then am sorry for bursting your bubble; there is no easier way. Don’t be anxious about anything; stress and anxiety are major success deterrents.
4. Take the first Step
The day you decide to take that first step towards your dreams is the day you get closer to them Nothing ever gets accomplished until it’s started. The earlier you start, the better.
5. Don’t Be Afraid Of Being Different
It’s the differences we have with other people that make us unique. Don’t try to fit in when you were born to stand out.
Remember that you only have one life to live; live it like you would if you were given a second chance.
6. Set Your Goals Straight
If you don’t know where you are going, then any road will lead you there. When Bill Gates dropped from Harvard University, He didn’t do it for the sheer fun of it.
He had a clear goal of what he wanted to do with life. In 1975, he and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft, one the largest software company in the world today. A few decades later, he is one of the wealthiest people in the world.
7. Build Relations
To achieve success, you need people to help you. Learn to deal and communicate with people.
If you have a problem, ask for help. You will be surprised how many people are more than willing to offer their assistance to you.
8. Motivate Others
What you give to others comes back in equal measures. Motivate others to achieve their dreams and in the same manner, you will make yours. Offer assistance to others whenever possible.
9. Look For a Mentor
Find somebody who has been in the same situation and asked them to guide you through.
Someone you admire and wish to be as successful as them in the future. They should act as a support system in good and bad times.
10. Be Honest
You don’t need mere means to achieving your goals. Be honest in all you do and you will be surprised how grateful you will be when you finally reach your goals.
There is nothing more fulfilling than enjoying the fruits of something you worked hard and honestly for.
11. Be An Analyst of Details
Before you make any decision, ensure you have the right facts. Take your time and gather information, analyze it and make an appropriate decision.
The mistakes you make should be taken as lessons rather than success deterrents.
The tips above should help you stay motivated. Don’t forget to be happy. Many people are successful but very few are happy.
Make friends, fall in love, laugh; these are the little things in life that make the entire difference. Remember you only live once, make it count!
